Tin Chak Estate
A public housing flat at Tin Chak Estate, in Tin Shui Wai, New Territories. The kitchen has white full-height units with glazed wall cabinets above and dark base units below the counter, separating light from dark; storage is taken as far as the limited space allows, while keeping the worktop free to work on.
White cabinet doors set with reeded glass store things away and still let light through; the dark units below hold the weight low, so a public housing flat can have depth as well.
A dark timber front door sits in a trimmed frame, with a cat flap left at the bottom; against plain white walls, the timber is the first thing you see on coming in.
Glass-fronted wall cabinets sit above white base units, so tableware can be seen or put away; the dark counter is hard-wearing and takes daily cooking without marking.
A single-run layout, with the appliances built into the cabinetry; stainless steel alternates with white, keeping the narrow room in order.
Grey tiles cover the bathroom and a sliding glass door closes off the shower; the towel rail and shelving are fixed to the wall, leaving the way through clear.
