Grand Mayfair
Grand Mayfair is a private residential flat in Kam Tin, New Territories. The living room pairs white cabinetry with curved edges against open timber shelving, keeping the lines soft; the ceiling carries black track spotlights and a rattan pendant, the floor is a light timber grain, and white forms the base throughout.
The living room keeps only white cabinetry and a rattan pendant, handing the eye back to the daylight; a timber shelf runs across the wall, and the corridor can be seen right through.
The white cabinets are finished with curved edges, softening the corners; timber shelves and counters run through them, leaving a little warmth in an otherwise calm scheme.
A rattan shade opens the entrance and the warm light falls first by the door; a pale open compartment beside it holds a photo frame and a small plant, so there is something lived-in to come home to.
The middle of the unit is left open for display, holding a vase of flowers and a single plate; drawers fill the section below, so the everyday clutter is all put away.
Black track lights and a rattan pendant share the room, one cool and one warm, each doing its own job; the ceiling is kept a clean white, handing the eye back to the fittings themselves.
A strip light sits between the upper and lower cabinets, lighting the worktop evenly without glare; pale wood and white flat doors alternate, so there is plenty of storage without the run looking heavy.
A platform bed on a tatami-style deck, with storage right through underneath; a low table is left by the window, and the morning light lands just right on the timber grain.
A light strip outlines the platform beside the bed, so the main light is not needed at night; timber meets white wall on a clean line.
Large marble-effect slabs face the walls, and a timber-fronted vanity holds down the cool tones; concealed lighting under the mirror reaches every corner of the counter, morning or night.
Black-framed glass draws the line between wet and dry, and the washing machine tucks into the same bay; the wall tiles carry on the marble figuring, so a small room still reads as one piece.
