Altissimo

A private residential flat at Altissimo, in Sha Tin in the New Territories. White and pale timber set the tone throughout: one side of the living room is given over to a full wall of storage with concealed lighting, while the TV wall is finished in large-format marble-effect panels; the kitchen and bathroom each use a different depth of stone pattern so the finishes do not compete.

A full wall of white storage runs down one side of the living room, with concealed lighting picking out the open shelves; the TV wall and the floor share the same pale tone, so the long room does not feel closed in.

The TV wall is clad in large-format marble-effect panels with a light strip washing the edge; the console below is wall-hung and clear of the floor, which keeps both cabling and cleaning simple.

A fireplace-style feature wall closes the view in the dining room, with the table set against it; the slim metal pendant keeps the ceiling from feeling lower than it is.

At the entrance a fluted timber panel wraps the sliding door, with the frame finished flush to the wall; the floor changes from stone-effect tile to timber exactly at the threshold.

The kitchen counter runs in a single line, with dark stone-effect wall tiles and a stainless splashback; the wall units run to the ceiling so storage sits above eye level.

A run of tall units takes in both the fridge and the oven behind a vertical timber grain; a ventilation grille is left at the plinth so the appliances are not boxed in.

The bed head combines an upholstered panel with timber trim, and the wall-mounted television has its cabling chased in; the curtain box is concealed in the false ceiling so the daylight can be shut out completely.

Marble-effect tiling carries from the floor up the walls, and the mirror cabinet carries the light strip that serves the basin; glass separates the tub from the shower to keep wet and dry apart.
